Ever day there's new horror. If you believe in the pre-tribulation rapture, and what follows, and you're also seeing what's going on in the world, you're no doubt feeling some urgency. Add to that the many prophecy teachers rightly spurring us all on to share the Gospel, and you might almost feel a bit of panic. Should you go stand on the street corner with a sign or holler a warning? Should you quit your job and become an evangelist?   Each day I go online to find various articles or videos for the social media accounts associated with this blog. Each day it is easier to find more bad news. You can always find bad news, of course, but it's so much easier now because of the convergence of events and the ease of access to information on the internet. Some days, there are so many news stories with connections to end times signs of Jesus' second coming that it's almost paralyzing to figure out which ones to share. Plus, there are lots of end-times ministries or social accounts sharing the same things (some to excess, perhaps). Today I went to my RSS reader and began working through the many news articles. I want to say something about deception. We talk about the concept of end times "birth pangs," how things that will be grow in frequency and intensity. Amidst the earthquakes and wars and famine is the trickiest sign of all: deception. It's a sign you can see, but also may not realize you're a part of. In Matthew 24 and 25, we read about the tribulation. But in 24:4 , we see Jesus telling his disciples not to be deceived. Over and over, we are reminded in the Bible to be careful about deception. It's easy enough to tally up the earthquakes, wars and bombings, pestilence, the volcanic eruptions, the near-miss asteroids, the rising push for digital currency, the growing globalism, WEF—but you can't do the same with deception. One of the most concerning things I see today in the church is a confusion or misunderstanding of Israel.  It's gotten worse over time as the church starts sliding all over the place in belief. While it might not seem like a big deal, and nothing to argue over between two believers, I wanted to do a quick listing of what I see as the outcome of this confusion and the paths that lead from it. As you can see, some are concerning and, if someone goes far enough down the path, there is real destructive potential. Did the Church replace Israel? No. Absolutely not. According to theologian Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum, if we look in the book of Acts, the term Israel is used 29 times, and the term church is used 19 times. The two groups are always noted as separate and distinct. This is seen in many other places, too. It's not a question of material goods making you happy.  We know that not to be true, that the pursuit of material goods and wealth as the sole goal to be empty and meaningless. It's a question of whether the idea of "you'll own nothing and be happy" is a true statement that brings about good. We're seeing videos of people around the world rising up in protest against the various mandates and restrictions that have come down like a hammer. It's easy to find videos online of non-Christians talking about the Great Reset and the global elite. In Matthew 24, Jesus is talking about the Tribulation. His disciples asked questions and Jesus is answering them. The church (and the rapture) is not what he's talking about in that section of scripture.   It's important to understand that because many confuse this. The Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24-25 is Israel-and-Tribulation-centric. The Upper Room Discourse of John 13 came later in the timeline and was about the church and the Rapture. But those shadows of the Tribulation are cast, and we know that deception is one of the signs of the tribulation that will cast a shadow backwards.   Philippians 4:8 tells that we ought to be thinking on good things. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says we are to take our thoughts captive. All over in God's Word are we reminded of the importance of being careful what we allow into our minds, what we feed what's in our minds, and the danger of letting our minds wander freely to whatever emotional or logical conclusion they will. Being cautious about what we low to live in our minds also involves what might seem like "good" information from fellow Christians. Over the years, I've found that the things that Christians are eager to consume are things from people who: Say they have a prophecy about what's going to happen. Claim to have incredible supernatural experiences and share their stories. Talk about breaking news in light of how it fits in the end times. There are a lot of books out there about the end times, but I wanted to share a few with you that I've read recently and that adhere to a pre-trib pre-millennial view. +++ Agents of the Apocalypse , by David Jeremiah, is a great read.  What's unique about this book is that it combines a few fictional threads along with a detailed explanation, based in scripture, about each player in the end times. (It is similar to  Agents of Babylon  in approach, which does the same fiction+Bible mix.) The book is broken up into chapters, highlighting one of the players (the Woman, the Dragon, the Beast, the False Prophet, the Victor, etc.). The chapters start as a fictional telling of what might happen in an engaging way that is very believable.   We're living the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Not that laws of physics control spiritual things, but it's one of the things I think of when I hear people insisting that a great awakening or revival or taking back of the nations to the way things were in 2019 are all wrong. We are in entropy . It feels like a heavy blanket on the heart. Everywhere are people completely deceived, and happily embracing every new deception, thinking they are finding a path to enlightenment and fulfillment. Everywhere is depravity dressed up in bright colors, glitter, sparkles, false smiles, and even packaged into children's media. Apathy grows. Self-love rules cold hearts. Rumors and threats of war. New diseases. New leaps towards global control and more parts of a beast system that marks and controls who can buy or sell being put into place. If I were to tell you what I see said the most about the rapture as far as disagreeing with a pre-trib rapture, this is probably the list. I will likely be adding to it as I come across others that pop up on my radar. For those wanting to argue various theological positions, I encourage you to watch this YouTube series . Not a single idea, argument, or protest is left untouched. "There are a few signs that need to happen before the rapture." The imminence of the rapture is the key. Nothing needs to happen before it. Nothing. It is sign-less. Don't mistake the shadow and stage-setting for the tribulation as signs of the rapture beyond the fact that the rapture happens before the tribulation and if all that is falling into place than it is ever more imminent than ever before.   In my morning Bible reading and study in 2 Thessalonians 2 , the phrase "the mystery of lawlessness" caught my attention in a different way. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is removed. - 2 Thess. 2:7 In this chapter, Paul is reassuring the Thessalonians that no, Christ hadn't returned. He starts the chapter reassuring them that the false spirit, the false word, or the false letter that had convinced them otherwise was wrong ( 2 Thess. 2:2 ) Stop there for a second. A false spirit (i.e. a false revelation or prophecy). A false word or message (someone spoke a lie to them directly or personally). A false letter (something written taught them a lie). Are these three modes of deception rampant today or what? From there, Paul proceeds to reassure them that he is correct, describing what will happen with the coming man of lawlessness (the antichrist). This man will oppose every "god" and faith practice...
