Words and phrases to watch out for.

Image
If you're not in God's Word and constantly listening and talking to Him, you're going to be tripping and falling and easily deceived. The New Age movement has very successfully co-opted Biblical-sounding phrases, and infiltrated the conservative movement and health freedom movements. There are phrases and concepts that are now common, and if you're involved in any social media groups or activism of that nature, you are running into these.  I will add to this list as I come across more, but please be wary! The lie is that you can be "awakened" to light and knowledge. That's the serpent in the Garden of Eden talking. And if if it seems like a worthy cause or hyper-spiritual or a freedom-loving stance, be careful. You're being made more susceptible to future deception by your involvement in organizations, by following people, and by familiarizing yourself to hearing these things. Watch out for these words, phrases, ideas, or sources: Red pill Vibes / Vi

Forget signs and wonders. Look at prophecy.

Image
1 Peter 1:16-20 reveals the importance of prophecy. Peter saw a lot of miracles in his day. Through the power of God, he even participated in some. And yet, he tells us that prophecy, not the miraculous signs, was a more sure and confirmed word. Chuck Missler had something very interesting to say regarding the problem with chasing after signs and wonders, and why true prophecy is how God shows us when he is the one at work. Missler first establishes that the Bible tells us that Satan can do miracles, too. We see that throughout the Bible (e.g. Pharaoh's magicians), and we know he and his demonic hordes will be doing miraculous things during the tribulation. Missler explains: This presents a problem. If Satan can duplicate the miracles of God, then "signs and wonders" cannot be used as the arbiter of truth. That is, we cannot determine whether someone or something is good or evil based on ability to perform "signs and wonders."  1 Missler then points out that in

What will it take to get pastors to say the "R" word?

Image
Jonathan Brentner wrote a blog post regarding the strange phenomenon of pastors who won't say the word "rapture" in their preaching . I'm sure there are lots of reasons for it. "There are differing views." "I might make someone angry who holds a different view." "No one can really know what it means." "I don't want anyone to leave because Revelation is weird." "People want practical teaching on how to live their daily lives." "It doesn't fit into my series." Etc. It's the last one that gets me the most, in this day and age. Our daily lives are complete chaos right now. What used to pass as practical teaching before 2020 almost seems comical right now. The words from Daniel, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Thessalonians, Revelation...they are practically crawling out of people's Bibles and waving at them to take a look. Nope. Same old pre-2020 sermons, with a dash of woke for some preachers. One way you ca

Are Christians supposed to be preppers?

Image
There was a  recent post regarding whether Christians should or should not be preppers. It's worth a read and there are quite a few good points to consider. Keep in mind the author believes Christians will be on the earth for the first four horsemen before they are raptured. My response to this question of being a prepper? It's the wrong question. The right question is: Is God asking you to prepare? When we talk to God, he'll be directing us what he wants us to do. The Word of God speaks to the Church as a whole and also to the believer, but the Holy Spirit works in each believer, speaking and working out how that will look in that believer's life and in the situations God places him or her in. We love our enemies, for example, but the Holy Spirit helps us know what that looks like in each situation we are in. "But what about Joseph?" Nearly everyone uses Joseph as their proof text for prepping, for building up huge bank accounts, for stockpiling---but Jos
